Impact Divers White Kelp

What we offer

The Great African Sea Forest (kelp forest)

Join us on a dive down into this magical and marvellous 3-dimensional ecosystem which harbours an incredible array of life, from the tiny and the intricate to the large playful Cape fur Seals and everything in between. Become surrounded my huge schools of Strepie fish, explore the caves and swim throughs of the giant granite boulders and become mesmerised by the spectacle of the colourful nudibranchs. Your expert guide will show you this amazing underwater world in some of the most pristine kelp forests along the coast and point out critters to you which you would have otherwise missed. Whilst diving in the forests, there is also always the possibility of a cow shark interaction as they slowly glide through the strands of the kelp forest in its prehistoric form showing little to no interest in divers as it goes about its natural behaviour. Kelp is NOT a plant but a giant brown alga, but does photosynthesise like plants and so grows in relatively shallow coastal waters, therefore the majority of kelp diving is in waters no more than 12-15m in depth.

Dive with Seals

False Bay is home to more than 65 thousand Cape Fur Seals who colonize a Seal Island in the middle of the bay, however there is a smaller haul out rock at Partridge point which is frequented by anything from 100-200+ seals at any one time, and offers fantastic diving conditions and location for a marine megafauna Interactive dive experience. Seals are very used to divers and boats and often actively seek playful interactions with guests on SCUBA, playing in the bubbles. This is a shallow dive (5-9m) with a natural ‘amphitheatre’ like curve in the island just off the slip way where the majority of seals enter and exit the rock, allowing a small area where seal interactions can safely occur. There is also a beautiful reef to explore further away from the rock.

Reef Diving

Cold water rocky reefs are colourful and exciting dive spots. False Bay has a variety of dive options from huge granite boulder structures towering from the depths in 20+ meters of water to sprawling shallower reefs full of light, fish and invertebrate life. On the deeper reefs you will see huge fan corals, basking starfish and ginormous crayfish. Caves and swim throughs galore and every centimetre of rock covered in invertebrate life, a great place to explore the macro world of the bay.
